REPORT ON MEGHNA CEMENT MILLS LIMITED OF BANGLADESH

Objectives:

We decided to visit “Meghna Cement Mills Limited” [MCML], Mongla and to make a report on it. This visit serves us both educative and recreational purpose. After visiting ‘MCML’ we have realized how a heavy industry functions. We also have experienced the completed process of production. We further noticed how they executives and staffs at a different tires of administration work to make the successful functioning of a heavy industry. We also have the experience of the infrastructure, investment, marketing and seals procedures.

Introduction:

We agree with our course teacher to go on a study tour MCML. We decided to carry the expenditure including transport, lunch, refreshment etc. ourselves. We started to contribute a fixed amount of money [250/=Taka per head] to the committee. We also fixed up a date for the tour. Mean why we made a contact with the MCML authority. They gladly welcomed us to visit their factory. After completing all the arrangement we started our journey on 28^th August, 2008 at 10.15 am. Finishing our tour to MCML and ChandraMahal,Chulkathi we come back to our campus at 04.00 pm.

Report:

MCML is a sister concerned of “Basundhara Group”. It placed on 1993 and went on commercial production on ‘January 15,1996″. MCML is located in the southern part of Bangladesh of the bank of ‘Possur’. It is the largest cement factory of Bangladesh. It’s capacity for production 1.5 million MT per year. Production of MCML is marketed in the name of ‘King Brand Cement’.

Meghna Cement Mills Limited:

We know that ‘Basundhara Group’ is a large commercial business group in ‘Bangladesh’. Its have 42 commercial projects. Founder of ‘Basundhara Group’ is Ahamed Akber Sobahan. “Meghna Cement Mills Limited” is a large project of ‘Basundhara Group’. MCML placed on 1993. MCML is situated on 10.5 acres of land. Infrastructure of MCML is designed by China technology. First ‘January 15, 1996′ MCML went on its commercial production.

For production of cement MCML use clinker, gypsum, limestone, hard rock, fly-ash etc. Raw-materials of cement MCML import from foreign countries like – Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, India. For supplying produced commodities MCML have its own ship and cargo-vessel and competent human power. Also its have own distribution division which control its working systems. For elevating raw-materials and other commodities this mill use five various types of high quality atomized machine. For exporting produced commodities all over in the country this mill uses cargo-vessel and track.

Authorities of MCML import their machineries which is using for production of cement from China, Germany and Japan. Now the capacity of production of cement in this mill is average 80,000 to 100,000 bags per day (every bag contains 50kg of cement).

Process of Production:

In the area of MCML have 06 processing plant and 03 packaging plants. At first all kinds of raw-materials like — clinker, gypsum, limestone, hard rock, fly-ash etc. through in the processing plant. After processing and mixing the raw-materials they get cement. After preparing, cement through to packaging house. This is known as BICL. Here prepared cement is packed by packaging machine, which called HAVER-Roto Packer Machine. We know that MCML have 03 packaging plants. But 03 packaging plants is not run all time, all time work 02 packaging plants and other is stop. When the production pressure is high this time all packaging plants is worked.

Labours:

MCML have three categories of labours.

MCML also have the facility of over time and bonus. MCML give over-time salary two-times per day for its labours and gives 02 occasional bonus like Eid-ul-feter and Eid-ul-azha. It also give 05% yearly interest for the labours. MCML have a trade-union for the labours.

MCML have 100 senior and junior officers. Which average salary is up to 12000/= taka per month.

Foundations Which Made by Using ‘King Brand Cement’:

Many foundations or architectural work in ‘Bangladesh’ which is made by using MCML produced ‘King Brand Cement’. Foundations which are made by using MCML produced ‘King Brand Cement’ is — ‘Basundahara City’, ‘Subastu NajarVely’, ‘Boro Pukuria Coila Khoni’, ‘Sahid Jiaur Rahaman Medical College Hospital’ and ‘Rupsha Bridge’ etc.

Financial Condition:

Financial condition of MCML is increasing day by day. Here financial condition of MCML is given by chart and diagram, which is collected from ‘Dhaka Stock Exchange’ (DSE).

King Brand Cement is the harvest of industry of its skilled laborers Meghna Cement Mills ltd uses latest technology. It is BSTI approved. It ensures that all these thing has made Meghna cement to be international standard.It is necessary to beautify the internal environment of Meghna Cement Mills
ltd.

Recommendation :

Labor condition of Meghna Cement Mills ltd is more better than any other of these type of factory undoubtedly .There are no retirement allowances . But the industry helps its staffs in others ways. Student may go on further visits to their factory. More over this factory gives the student scope to do their internship. They are ready to help of student to complete their internships.

Conclusion:

The founder chairman is always concern for the development of the country. This factory’s main aim is acquiring customers satisfaction. Meghna Cement Mills ltd creates immense employment opportunity all over the country. In short Magna Cement Mills ltd plays a significant role in both internal and international economy.
